Secret Service on Leave After Attempted Assassination of Trump
Several U.S. Secret Service agents were placed on leave after a recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at a rally. The incident raised security concerns and led to the resignation of the Secret Service chief. The shooter was killed, and Trump remains committed to outdoor rallies.
Multiple U.S. Secret Service agents have been placed on leave following an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump last month, media outlets reported on Friday.
Fox and CBS revealed that at least five Secret Service members, including the head of the agency's Pittsburgh office, were put on leave. The security lapse at the July 13 rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, has been criticized for allowing the suspect to access a rooftop with a direct line of sight to Trump's speaking position.
The Secret Service expressed regret over the failure, resulting in the chief's resignation. Although the agency did not officially confirm the leave status of the agents, spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi stated that the incident is under thorough review, and disciplinary actions are being considered. Trump, who was shot in the ear, alongside other casualties in the shooting, continues to hold outdoor rallies with increased security measures.
