In a series of alleged scams under investigation in West Bengal, a new 'health scam' is coming to light, according to statements made by the BJP on Friday.

These comments follow the Calcutta High Court's decision to transfer the probe into financial irregularities at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The investigation had been initially handled by a state-constituted Special Investigation Team (SIT) during the tenure of former principal Sandip Ghosh.

Ghosh, already under CBI interrogation related to the rape and murder of a trainee doctor, now faces additional allegations of financial misconduct. The SIT was established on August 20 by the West Bengal government amid a national uproar over the tragic incident at the hospital. The high court's decision came in response to a petition from former deputy superintendent Akhtar Ali, who sought an Enforcement Directorate probe into the financial irregularities.
