In a significant development, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar has called for withdrawing the Maharashtra bandh scheduled for Saturday. This comes in light of a Bombay High Court order.
The bandh was initially planned by the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) to protest the sexual assault of two four-year-old girls in a Badlapur school in Thane district. The High Court, however, restrained political entities from calling for the bandh.
Pawar emphasized the need to respect the judiciary while acknowledging the public's anger over the incident. He mentioned that due to time constraints, appealing to the Supreme Court was not feasible, urging respect for the High Court's decision.
