The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday informed a Delhi court that it has obtained the necessary sanction to prosecute Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak in connection with a corruption case involving an alleged excise scam.
The announcement came during a session presided over by Special Judge Kaveri Baweja, who has slated the matter for hearing on August 27. Kejriwal's current judicial custody is set to conclude on the same date.
Previously, on August 12, the court had granted the CBI a period of 15 days to secure the requisite sanction for prosecution. The CBI had earlier obtained permissions to investigate both Kejriwal and Pathak in the case.
