Director of Maharashtra Shelter Faces Charges for Burning Toddler
Police in Thane district, Maharashtra, have filed a case against Datta Gaisamudhre, the director of a private shelter, for allegedly burning a toddler. The crime came to light when the child’s grandmother observed wounds on her body. The director faces charges under the BNS and Juvenile Justice Act.

A harrowing case has emerged from Maharashtra's Thane district as police have registered a case against Datta Gaisamudhre, the director of a private ashram, for allegedly causing burns on the body of a two-and-a-half-year-old girl.
The crime, reportedly committed between May and July, was exposed when the child's grandmother visited her at the shelter and noticed burn-like wounds on various parts of her body including her abdomen and behind her ears.
Authorities have confirmed that the injuries were inflicted with a hot object. Consequently, Gaisamudhre has been charged under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) section 118(1) and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, according to senior inspector Ajay Afle.
