The mastermind behind the 2016 Nabha jailbreak, Ramanjit Singh, was brought to Punjab early Friday after his extradition by authorities in Hong Kong. Singh was produced before a court, which remanded him to two-week judicial custody.
Ramanjit Singh, also known as Romi, was arrested on Thursday after an operation coordinated by the CBI and the Punjab Police. He was taken to Nabha in Punjab's Patiala district, where his medical examination was conducted at the civil hospital before being remanded.
Officials revealed that Romi was the key conspirator in the Nabha jailbreak incident, which saw six hardcore criminals escape. The CBI had issued a Red Notice against him through INTERPOL in March 2017 at the request of the Punjab Police. Extradition proceedings against Singh began in 2018, following his arrest in Hong Kong for a robbery case that same year.
