In response to the alleged sexual assault on two girls at a Badlapur school, Maharashtra DGP Rashmi Shukla on Wednesday emphasized the police force's commitment to citizen safety.

In a statement on the official X handle @DGPMaharashtra, DGP Shukla stated that the investigation is being conducted with the utmost diligence.

'We will leave no stone unturned in delivering justice to innocent children and their families,' Shukla affirmed.

The DGP mentioned measures like forming a Special Investigation Team headed by senior IPS officer Arti Singh.

The accused has been arrested, and a fast-track trial is being arranged, with eminent lawyer Ujjwal Nikam appointed as the Special Public Prosecutor.

Leader of Opposition Ambadas Danve and Shiv Sena (UBT) women wing members met DGP Shukla, demanding stringent action against the accused.

Earlier, a local court extended till August 26 the police custody of the accused, a school attendant, amid tight security.
