Doctor Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault on Minors; Mother, Headmistress, Also Held

A 31-year-old doctor in Trichy has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting minor girls at a school hostel. His mother, the school’s headmistress, was also taken into custody for covering up the crimes. The incident was uncovered after a distress call to a child helpline.

A 31-year-old doctor has been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting minor girls at a hostel affiliated with a government-aided school in Trichy. His mother, the school's headmistress, was also taken into custody for allegedly covering up the crimes. The All Women Police Station (AWPS) at Trichy Fort made the arrest, booking the accused under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Authorities were alerted to the situation after a distress call was placed to the child's helpline. Subsequently, the District Child Protection Officer and other officials conducted interviews with the students, revealing that the accused had been assaulting students for several months during consultations. Both the doctor and the headmistress have been placed in three-day judicial custody.

In another incident, two four-year-old children were sexually assaulted at their school in Badlapur, Maharashtra by school staff, triggering widespread outrage and protests across the state.
