Valencia striker Rafa Mir has categorically denied accusations of sexual assault, following his conditional release from custody pending a formal investigation. Mir, 27, was detained by police on Monday after a woman lodged a complaint against him. He gave testimony before a judge on Wednesday, who subsequently ordered his conditional release.

The investigative judge will now determine whether there is sufficient evidence to proceed with a trial or if the case should be dismissed. "Rafa Mir categorically denies the accusations against him...The criminal proceedings will clarify the events and will show that the accusation does not stand up," stated Mir's lawyer, Jaime Campaner.

The court is investigating Mir for an alleged sexual assault involving intercourse. Mir is required to appear in court regularly and is prohibited from leaving the country during the investigation period. This controversy follows similar cases involving LaLiga players Santi Mina and Dani Alves, highlighting a troubling trend in the sport.
