The MSP Guarantee Kisan Morcha (MSP GKM) has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi to advocate for the enactment of a law guaranteeing Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops.

Representatives from over 250 farmer organizations across 26 states convened in Delhi at Gurudwara Shri Rakabganj Sahib to stress the urgency of the MSP bill. In their letter dated August 21, MSP GKM urged Modi and Gandhi to introduce and pass the legislation in the forthcoming Parliament session.

Highlighting the inconsistency in providing MSP guarantees, the letter stated, "Mr. Prime Minister, the government refuses to give us a law on the guarantee of MSP and says that 'MSP was, MSP is and MSP will remain' while ensuring MSP for industrialists." The MSP GKM argued that if the government could protect industries, it should extend the same protection to farmers.

MSP GKM President V M Singh criticized the current administration for not acting upon previous recommendations to implement MSP. He noted that despite support from multiple political parties at a 2018 round table conference, no significant actions have been taken. Singh also questioned why opposition-led states have not implemented MSP at the state level.
