A woman has reportedly assaulted a special public prosecutor on the court premises in Navi Mumbai's CBD Belapur area, police reported on Wednesday.

Authorities have yet to make any arrests in connection with the case.

The accused, Shalini Veerbhadra Panda, 39, allegedly verbally abused and physically attacked special prosecutor Ravindra Jadhav on Tuesday afternoon.

Panda, a Seawoods area resident and complainant in a criminal case, was apparently incensed with Jadhav because the court acquitted the accused, according to an official from the CBD police station.

An FIR was registered against Panda on Tuesday evening under sections 132 and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. A further investigation is currently underway.
