NCP (SP) leader and Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule on Thursday expressed surprise over Prime Minister Narendra Modi visiting Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud's residence. Nonetheless, she affirmed her 'full faith' in the Indian judiciary.
PM Modi visited Chandrachud's residence in Delhi on Wednesday for the Ganesh festival and offered prayers. Sule noted both the PM and CJI have more experience and that her comments would be inappropriate but found the visit unprecedented. She emphasized her belief in the judiciary despite lacking faith in the current government.
Sule also highlighted the merit-based allotment of an office in the new Parliament building for NCP (SP) and defended Sharad Pawar's leadership. She drew parallels with the Shiv Sena's faction led by Eknath Shinde and asserted faith in judicial processes.
In statements to reporters, Sule discussed internal politics, the legitimacy of party factions, and external pressures from government agencies. She also addressed accusations against Uddhav Thackeray's Hindutva stance and praised RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's progressive remarks, aligning them with Maharashtra's inclusive ideology.
