Sharad Pawar, the former Union minister, declared on Wednesday that there is no need for the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) to announce a chief ministerial candidate ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections.
Speaking to reporters in Kolhapur, the Nationalist Congress Party president emphasized that the decision on who will be the chief minister can be made after the poll results are in. The chief ministerial candidate will be chosen based on which party secures the most seats within the alliance, according to Pawar.
He also called for the MVA to expedite the seat-sharing process and commence their campaign at the earliest, suggesting that leaders should begin talks between September 7 and 9. Pawar anticipated that the election process would be wrapped up by the second week of November. He further recommended involving other influential parties such as the Peasants and Workers Party, CPI, and CPM in discussions, citing their past contributions to the alliance's success in Lok Sabha elections.
