A government school teacher in Maharashtra's Akola district has been arrested on charges of sexually harassing girl students by showing them obscene videos. Pramod Sardar, the accused teacher, has been dismissed from his position, according to Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer B Vaishnavi.
The allegations emerged after girl students reported the incident to the Child Welfare Committee via a toll-free number. Members of the committee visited the school and registered a case against Sardar, citing charges of outraging the modesty of women and sexual harassment.
The case was documented at Ural police station under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. According to the FIR, six girl students reported that Sardar had been showing them obscene videos for the past four months.
