Kerala police on Wednesday ramped up their efforts to locate Thasmid Thamasum, a 13-year-old girl from Assam who went missing from her rented home near the state capital. Thamasum is the eldest daughter of a daily wage earner living in Kazhakkoottam.
The girl was last seen around 10.30 am on Tuesday, according to police reports. After preliminary searches yielded no results, her parents filed a complaint, prompting a massive search operation. CCTV footage from various city locations, including railway and bus stations, was examined.
A breakthrough came when a woman passenger reported seeing a girl matching Thamasum's description on a Kanyakumari-bound train. The passenger provided a photograph, which the parents confirmed as their missing daughter. Consequently, Kerala police extended their search operations to the Kanyakumari region in Tamil Nadu, although confirmation of the girl's arrival there remains elusive.
