The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has announced the launch of a Hackathon, inviting student teams from institutes with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BIS to participate. This initiative aims to foster creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration among students by addressing real-world challenges identified by BIS.

The Hackathon offers a unique chance for students to design and develop a platform for organizing online activities and games that focus on Indian Standards. The objective is to boost interest, enhance knowledge, and increase awareness about the importance of Indian Standards in ensuring quality and safety for the public and stakeholders. Understanding quality and standards is crucial for both infrastructural and social development in the country.

BIS engages with various stakeholders, including government bodies, industries, consumers, and academia, through a range of programs like Quality Connect, Manak Mahotsav, and Gram Panchayat Sensitization. These initiatives aim to promote standards and quality awareness through diverse activities and training.

The Hackathon's online platform will feature a variety of activities and games designed to engage participants and disseminate important information about quality standards. The activities may be time-bound or ongoing and could be linked to special occasions such as World Standards Day or World Consumer Rights Day. Participation is expected to exceed 500,000.
