A 35-year-old labourer, Bechan Shah, was allegedly beaten to death by the owners of an RMCA plant in Mirzapur village, Faridabad, when he asked for his unpaid salary to visit family during Rakshabandhan, police reported on Tuesday.

Shah, originally from Chhapra district in Bihar, had been working at the plant for a monthly salary of Rs 12,000. Police stated that the plant owners owed him Rs 65,000, of which Rs 29,000 had been paid. Shah demanded his dues late Sunday evening from owners Ramesh Tiwari and Gyani, while they were drinking. In response, Tiwari and his brother-in-law Rajesh allegedly beat him severely, leaving him fatally injured.

Shah was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. An FIR was registered based on a complaint by Shah's co-worker Madan. Ramesh Tiwari and Rajesh Kumar have been arrested and are under interrogation. The deceased's body has been handed over to his family following a postmortem, said Inspector Manoj Kumar, SHO, Faridabad.
