Three Bangladeshi nationals have been apprehended by the Assam Police for illegally crossing into India, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Tuesday.

The detainees, hailing from Bangladesh's Rajshahi district, had planned to travel to Chennai for employment. Sarma posted on X that they were caught by the Assam Police after entering India from the Tripura side.

Identified as Md Abu Shaid, Asadul Islam, and Md Sarwar, the individuals were found with one possessing an Aadhaar card, signifying a prior entry into India. They have been deported back to Bangladesh.

In a similar case, a Bangladeshi woman was detained in Dhubri and handed over to Bangladeshi authorities. She revealed during interrogation that she had entered India with the assistance of brokers and was separated from her spouse before being detained by the police.
