The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday officially charged two individuals, Abdul Matheen Taha and Mussavir Hussain Shazib, for their involvement in a significant terror plot targeting India and promoting ISIS activities, according to an official statement.

Both men, residents of Thirthahalli in Karnataka's Shivamogga district, were implicated in extensive investigations that unveiled their roles in a broader terror conspiracy. The NIA, in its statement, confirmed their arrest on April 12 after being on the run.

Investigations revealed Taha's self-radicalization which led to him radicalizing and recruiting Shazib and others. Through online handlers and associates, they promoted ISIS activities, with links to several terror incidents. The case, now involving 18 charged individuals, had initially been handled by Bengaluru city police before being taken over by the NIA on January 23, 2020.
