A man and two of his family members have been arrested for allegedly killing his wife over dowry demands, police reported on Monday.
The victim's father, Pramod Rai from Zamania town in Ghazipur district, filed a complaint at Narhi police station on Saturday, according to Superintendent of Police Vikrant Veer.
In the complaint, Pramod stated that his daughter, Kumkum, married Rajneesh Rai alias Golu of Narhi village in April 2019, and since then, she faced regular beatings from her husband and in-laws for not fulfilling their dowry demands.
''On the night of August 16, my daughter's brother-in-law informed us that her health had deteriorated and called us to Buxar. Upon reaching Buxar, we found that my daughter had already died,'' Pramod claimed in his complaint.
Based on the complaint, police booked Rajneesh, his parents, and brother Vikas Rai, and subsequently arrested Rajneesh, Vikas, and Satyendra near Bairiya Tiraha on Sunday. They were sent to jail, with efforts ongoing to apprehend the victim's mother-in-law.
