The Congress has ramped up its criticism against the BJP concerning the lateral entry issue, accusing the ruling party of 'snatching reservation' and assigning posts intended for SCs, STs, OBCs, and EWS to individuals affiliated with the RSS.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge asserted that while the Congress-led administration had introduced lateral entry to appoint subject-matter experts to certain positions, the Modi government is allegedly using it to 'snatch the rights' of marginalized communities. Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi echoed this stance, calling the move an attack on Dalits, OBCs, and adivasis.
The controversy erupted after the UPSC announced openings for 45 senior positions through lateral entry. The Congress contends that this approach seeks to undermine the reservation system and benefit individuals linked to the RSS, which they argue is part of a broader agenda to alter the Constitution.
