A tragic incident occurred when a 23-year-old youth died after allegedly falling from the fourth floor of a girl's hostel at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) in Shimla, police reported on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Karan Patial, a resident of Palampur in Kangra, and a student of a private university in Solan. The fall took place while he was allegedly attempting to enter the girls' hostel.
Locals alerted the police around 1 am, and Shimla Superintendent of Police (SP) Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi confirmed that Patial was rushed to IGMC Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing, the officer added.
