A Delhi Police constable was injured while attempting to intercept three minors who were trying to flee on a stolen scooter in southeast Delhi, officials said on Sunday.

Head constable Ashok and constable Vishal, on night duty, spotted the boys riding without helmets near CV Raman Marg on the night of August 17 and 18, police reported.

As they signalled them to stop, the boys sped up. Constable Vishal stopped his bike in front of their scooter, but the minors deliberately rammed into him, causing Vishal to fall and sustain injuries, according to a senior police officer. The minors, aged 14 to 15, were riding a scooter stolen from Sunlight Colony and had planned additional thefts. The scooter was recovered, the minors apprehended, and an FIR lodged against them. Constable Vishal was treated and discharged from the hospital. Further investigation is ongoing.
