The Punjab Police announced the arrest of Gulab Singh, a notable drug smuggler implicated in a major heroin case.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav disclosed that Singh's detention is a significant victory for law enforcement, aiming to dismantle an intricate smuggling network.

The arrest follows last year's operation by the State Special Operation Cell (Fazilka) which intercepted two separate cross-border smuggling networks, seizing 77.8 kilogrammes of heroin and three pistols. Singh was instrumental in handling 36 kilogrammes of the contraband and liaising with smugglers in Pakistan.

According to Yadav, thorough investigations are ongoing to trace the financial trails and freeze assets derived from illicit proceeds. Senior Superintendent of Police (Faridkot) Pragya Jain confirmed that Singh was apprehended at a bus stand in Rupyianwali village after an intelligence-driven operation. The seasoned criminal had been using mobile apps to coordinate with Pakistan-based operatives.
