Media Platform X Shuts Down in Brazil Amid Judicial Concerns
Media platform X announced its immediate operational closure in Brazil due to what it alleges as 'censorship orders' from Brazilian judge Alexandre de Moraes. The platform claims Moraes secretly threatened their legal representative with arrest for non-compliance. Brazil's Supreme Court has not commented on the situation.
Media platform X announced on Saturday that it would be ceasing operations in Brazil with immediate effect, citing 'censorship orders' imposed by Brazilian judge Alexandre de Moraes.
The platform alleges that Moraes secretly threatened one of its legal representatives in Brazil with arrest if the company did not comply with legal orders to remove certain content from its service.
The Brazilian Supreme Court, where Moraes is a member, has not yet responded to requests for comment. Despite the operational shutdown, X's services remain accessible to users in Brazil, according to a statement from billionaire Elon Musk's platform.
