Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut has disclosed that her upcoming film 'Emergency' remains stuck with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), contrary to rumors suggesting it had been cleared for release.

Ranaut, a BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh's Mandi, stars as former prime minister Indira Gandhi in the film, which is scheduled for release on September 6. In a video message posted on X, she claimed that both she and the CBFC members have been receiving threats.

Ranaut stated that there is pressure to omit the assassination of the former prime minister by her security guards. She expressed her disbelief at the situation, adding that the certification has been halted due to various threats. Ranaut further highlighted the pressure to not portray events like Mrs. Gandhi's assassination, Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, and the Punjab riots.

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has sent a legal notice to the CBFC, seeking to prevent the movie's release. They argue that the film's trailer contains erroneous historical facts that misrepresent the Sikh community and could incite communal tensions.
