Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced on Saturday that Ukrainian troops have fortified their positions and extended their control over territory in Russia's Kursk region. This progress comes nearly two weeks into their ongoing incursion.
Zelenskiy stated that Ukrainian forces have captured more than 80 settlements, covering an area of 1,150 square kilometers, making it the largest invasion of Russia since World War II. The Ukrainian military continues to advance, taking more Russian servicemen as prisoners and deterring many Russian attacks, particularly near Pokrovsk and Toretsk in the Donetsk region.
The developments have yet to be independently verified, and Russia has condemned the incursion as a major provocation, promising retaliation. Ukrainian forces are reportedly using Western arms in their advances. Despite the tension, Zelenskiy assured that the situation remains under control with Ukrainian forces repelling assaults effectively.
