Injustice Persists: Majority of Suspects in Pakistan's Anti-Christian Rampage Still Free

A year after a brutal assault on minority Christians in eastern Pakistan, most suspects remain at large, and victims are still awaiting justice, Amnesty International reports. The attacks, triggered by unproven blasphemy allegations, left churches and homes destroyed, pushing Christians to live in fear and uncertainty.

A human rights group has revealed that the majority of suspects involved in a rampage against minority Christians in eastern Pakistan last year are not in custody, failing to bring justice to the victims.

Amnesty International announced that over 90 per cent of the suspects from the Jaranwala attack in Punjab's Faisalabad district remain free. The attack, which saw the destruction of Christian churches and homes, was sparked by allegations of Quran desecration.

Despite police reports and arrests, the trials have yet to commence, leaving many victims uncompensated and perpetuating a climate of impunity, according to Amnesty International.
