Union Minister Pradhan Criticizes Mamata Banerjee's Handling of Doctor's Tragedy

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday lambasted West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for attributing the recent vandalism at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College to opposition parties. He asserted that there should be 'no room for politics' concerning the rape and murder of a junior doctor.

Pradhan accused Banerjee of trying to cover up the crime, stifle dissent, and protect the culprits, raising significant concerns about governance. He described Banerjee's response as 'disgusting, shameful, and reprehensible,' and questioned her repeated systemic failures in West Bengal.

Pradhan emphasized the necessity of justice and the severe punishment of those responsible. A postgraduate doctor was allegedly raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College on August 9, leading to protests and vandalism by unidentified miscreants the next day.
