The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday called West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee a 'dictator' and demanded her resignation over allegations of shielding those involved in the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata.
The BJP further called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe and a polygraph test on Banerjee and Police Commissioner Vineet Goel to ensure a fair inquiry. They accused Goel of initially misrepresenting the cause of the victim's death as suicide.
BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia condemned the West Bengal Police for using force against students who rallied for justice, asserting that current events in the state undermine constitutional principles. Amit Malviya highlighted alleged connections between the accused and high-ranking officials, stressing the need for an unbiased, thorough investigation.
