Unmarried Woman Found Dead in Thane Chawl: Initial Probe Suggests Suicide
A 25-year-old woman was discovered hanging in a chawl room in Thane city, Maharashtra. The police suspect suicide. Fire personnel, alerted by residents' reports of a foul smell, found the body on Monday night. The police have registered a case of accidental death and are investigating further.

A 25-year-old woman was found hanging in a chawl room in Thane city, Maharashtra, late Monday night, according to local officials.
Senior Inspector Ranjeet Dere from Kopri police station suggested that the case appears to be a suicide. The fire department received a call around 10 pm from residents reporting a foul smell from a locked house in the chawl, located at Koliwada in Thane (East).
Firefighters broke into the house and discovered the woman, who was unmarried, hanging from an iron bar. She was identified as a tenant. The police were subsequently notified and they have sent the body for postmortem. A case of accidental death has been registered and further investigation is underway.
