Iran Prepares for Large-Scale Attack on Israel: Defense Ministers Coordinate
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant informed U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin of Iran's preparations for a major military attack on Israel. The discussions covered strategic coordination and military readiness. The U.S. has deployed additional military assets to the Middle East following threats from Iranian officials linked to a recent assassination in Tehran.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant informed U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Sunday about Iran's preparations for a large-scale military attack on Israel, according to Axios reporter Barak Ravid. A source with knowledge of the call detailed the conversation.
In a statement on Monday, Gallant's ministry confirmed the overnight discussion, noting both officials talked about operational and strategic coordination, along with Israel's military readiness against Iranian threats.
U.S. Defense Secretary Austin has subsequently ordered the deployment of a guided missile submarine to the Middle East. This move follows the U.S. military's prior decision to deploy additional fighter jets and Navy warships to strengthen Israeli defenses amid impending threats. The tension escalates after an Iranian Revolutionary Guards deputy commander mentioned executing Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's orders to punish Israel over the July 31 assassination of a Hamas leader in Tehran.
