On Sunday, left parties urged for the formation of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to investigate allegations made by US short-seller Hindenburg Research against SEBI chairperson Madhabi Buch.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) stated that Hindenburg Research, known for previously exposing stock manipulation by the Adani group, has accused Buch and her husband of holding stakes in offshore funds used by Vinod Adani to invest in Adani companies.
CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury and other left leaders demanded Buch's resignation and a thorough JPC probe, insisting the allegations question the integrity of India's financial regulatory system.
