Two army personnel sustained injuries during a fierce encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district on Saturday, officials disclosed.
The security forces initiated a cordon and search operation in Ahlan Gagarmandu within the Kokernag area of South Kashmir, following credible intelligence reports regarding terrorist presence.
The encounter erupted when terrorists opened fire on the search party, prompting an immediate retaliation. ''Based on specific intelligence input, a Joint Operation was launched by #IndianArmy, @JmuKmrPolice & @crpf_srinagar today in the general area Kokernag, Anantnag. Contact was established and firefight ensued,'' the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps of the Indian Army announced via social media. The injured personnel have been evacuated, and the operation remains active.
