Supreme Court Verdict on Sisodia's Bail Pleas in Excise Policy Scandal

The Supreme Court is set to deliver a verdict on Manish Sisodia's bail pleas concerning corruption and money laundering linked to the Delhi excise policy scandal. On Friday, the Supreme Court is poised to announce its decision regarding AAP leader Manish Sisodia's bail pleas in cases of corruption and money laundering tied to the controversial Delhi excise policy scam.

A special bench of Justices B R Gavai and K V Viswanathan, who reserved their judgment on August 6, will reveal the eagerly awaited verdict. Sisodia was apprehended by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February 26, 2023, for alleged irregularities in the now-defunct Delhi excise policy of 2021-22.

Subsequently, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested him on March 9, 2023, in connection with a money laundering investigation linked to the same case. Sisodia, who resigned from the Delhi cabinet shortly after his arrest, has been in custody for 17 months pending trial, which has yet to commence. The court has demanded insights from CBI and ED on possible trial timelines, given the significant number of witnesses involved.
