In a significant move, a Delhi court has taken cognisance of a supplementary charge sheet filed under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in relation to the Parliament security breach that occurred last year on the anniversary of the 2001 terror attack.

Additional Sessions Judge Hardeep Kaur confirmed that there is sufficient evidence to proceed against the six accused individuals involved in the case. Accordingly, the judge extended their judicial custody until September 9, the next court hearing date.

According to the Delhi Police, an estimated 1000-page charge sheet was presented against the six accused, following the receipt of the necessary sanctions for prosecution. The breach involved two accused jumping into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery and releasing yellow gas, while other accomplices sprayed colored gas outside the premises.
