Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Saturday took stock of the flood situation in Namakkal district, where the swelling Cauvery River has inundated low-lying areas on its banks.

Stalin visited the State Emergency Operation Centre, engaging with state and district officials to advise on safeguarding measures for the affected populace.

The heavy discharge of water from the Stanley reservoir in Mettur has flooded several residences along the Cauvery River at Bhavani, Erode, and Kodumudi.

Meanwhile, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami visited a relief camp in Namakkal, interacting with temporarily lodged residents and distributing aid. He assured the affected families that his party would construct new homes for them.
