A senior government engineer was arrested in Odisha on Saturday in a significant corruption case after officials discovered 85 plots of land and a market complex in his possession.
The accused, who serves as a chief construction engineer in the Irrigation Department and is posted in a barrage project in Keonjhar district, has been found possessing disproportionate assets.
During the searches, authorities uncovered a five-storied building, a market complex, 85 plots of land, 335 gm gold, and substantial cash deposits amounting to over Rs 78 lakh and Rs 11.7 lakh. The engineer, a native of Balasore district, accumulated these properties over his 40-year service span. An investigation is ongoing, as confirmed by the vigilance officials.
