CPI(M) Launches Wayanad Relief Fund for Landslide Victims

The CPI(M) Politburo on Wednesday expressed solidarity with the victims of the landslides in Kerala's Wayanad, calling for donations to assist in the relief work.

The devastating landslide disaster in Wayanad has claimed almost 200 lives, injuring hundreds more and causing substantial property damage. The LDF government in Kerala is making every effort to provide relief and help in the rehabilitation of affected families. CPI(M) and affiliated organizations are also deeply involved in the aid efforts, as stated in a release.

The CPI(M) emphasized the need to support the affected families and contribute to the relief work. A special fund, the Wayanad Relief Fund, is being established at the CPI(M) Central Committee Office in Delhi, and the party has appealed for donations from the public.

The district administration reported that 167 people have been confirmed dead and over 200 have been injured in the landslides, with rescue operations ongoing that are likely to increase these numbers as debris is cleared.
