The Gauteng Provincial Government has officially launched its new e-Panic app, named Gauteng e-Panic, as part of its ongoing commitment to improving safety and security for residents. This innovative tool aims to address crime and persistent issues of domestic violence within the province.

The e-Panic app, which is free to use, provides residents with a direct way to request assistance in emergencies. According to the provincial government, the response team is well-prepared to offer timely support when the app is activated.

Gauteng MEC of e-Government, Bonginkosi Dhlamini, has urged all residents to take advantage of this free resource. "The Gauteng Panic Button is a testament to our progress in creating a safer environment for everyone. By downloading and using this app, you can ensure the safety of yourself and your loved ones in times of emergency," Dhlamini said.

The initiative includes both a physical device and an electronic version available as a mobile app. The Gauteng Panic Button app can be downloaded on both Android and iOS platforms, offering a user-friendly way for residents to stay secure.

To download and register for the app:

Download the App:

Visit Google Play or the App Store.

Search for "Gauteng Panic Button."

Look for the blue icon labeled "Crime Prevention Panic Button Gauteng."

Press "Install" to download the app to your device.

Register:

Open the app once installed.

Enter your phone number and press "Submit" to receive a One-Time Password (OTP) via SMS.

Input the OTP and press "Submit."

Complete your profile by entering your name, surname, phone number, and optionally, your email. Accept the terms and conditions to finalize your registration.
