The residents of Madrasi Camp have found themselves confronting eviction notices to make way for a new flyover construction. For over 40 years, this has been home, and they refuse to move unless provided with an alternative site.

Last week, the Public Works Department (PWD) notified the residents, demanding they vacate within five days. Kannan, a photographer and long-time resident, highlighted that the deadline is September 11. Kannan questioned, 'Where will we go if our houses are demolished?' emphasizing the need for an alternative.

Venugopal, a housekeeping staff member, said most families hail from Tamil Nadu and many have generational ties to the area. With over 400 families at stake, the residents are unified in their demand for a new place to move, as incomes here are not enough to afford rents elsewhere.
