Curacao Joins CARICOM as Newest Associate Member

The Dutch Caribbean island of Curacao has become the latest associate member of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). The membership ceremony took place at CARICOM's heads of government summit in Grenada, where leaders will discuss climate change and other regional issues.

The Dutch Caribbean island of Curacao on Sunday became the newest associate member of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), a bloc promoting economic integration and cooperation across a region of largely small island developing states.

Curacao joined the group during a ceremony at the opening of the organization's heads of government summit in Grenada. Here, leaders are set to discuss pivotal issues such as the growing impact of climate change on the region.
