In response to increasing concerns regarding terrorist infiltration attempts in Jammu and Kashmir, security forces have initiated an extensive operation along the International Border in the Samba sector to uncover underground and cross-border tunnels, according to police reports released on Thursday.

Numerous police and security personnel, equipped with specialized equipment, are meticulously examining border areas. The focus is largely on dense bushes and forested regions. This marked step aims to intensify efforts against potential threats.

"A comprehensive anti-tunnel exercise has commenced to ascertain the presence of any cross-border tunnels," commented a police officer actively engaged in the operation.

The operations also involve the deployment of drones, conducted daily to respond effectively to ongoing security threats posed by potential terrorist infiltrations.

"Security forces are clearing dense bushy areas to eliminate the possibility of existence of tunnels," the officer added. The police recently noted that Pakistan-sponsored terrorists have infiltrated into Jammu and Kashmir, contributing to various attacks in the region.

Reports suggest that between 50 to 60 foreign terrorists have sneaked into Jammu via the International Border and Line of Control over recent months. These infiltrators have targeted army personnel, security forces, and civilians, including pilgrims, particularly in the districts of Kathua, Doda, Rajouri, Poonch, and Reasi over the past six weeks.
