A 55-year-old man and his wife from Nagpur allegedly defrauded investors of Rs 2.25 crore by posing as agents of the postal department, police have revealed. The accused, Pradeep Kisan Khangar and his wife Vandana, promised high returns on investments to lure their victims.

Vandana Khangar is a legitimate postal department agent, unlike her husband Pradeep, who approached numerous individuals, including complainant Nalini Tambulkar, with schemes for recurring and fixed deposits. Convinced by his promises, Tambulkar and others invested substantial sums.

From October 2021 to June 2024, the couple collected Rs 2,25,58,400 from investors. Suspicion arose when promised returns failed to materialize, leading investors to discover their accounts were non-existent. Authorities have since charged the couple with impersonation, criminal breach of trust, and forgery, initiating a thorough investigation.
