Alarming Precursor to Trump's Rally Attack Unveiled: Suspect Googled ‘Oswald & Kennedy’

FBI Director Christopher Wray disclosed on Wednesday that the suspect in the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump, Thomas Matthew Crooks, had conducted a Google search on Lee Harvey Oswald a week before the attack. This was revealed during a House Judiciary Committee hearing, providing new insights into Crooks' apparent fascination with public figures.

The search was uncovered from a laptop tied to the 20-year-old, who targeted Trump through a shooting incident at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13. Despite rigorous investigations, Wray mentioned that Crooks' precise motive remains unclear, though he seemed notably fixated on Trump in the days leading up to the incident.

Wray also highlighted alarming security concerns as Crooks operated a drone near the rally stage just hours before Trump appeared, filming the event. The FBI continues to probe the incident, classified as an act of domestic terrorism and attempted assassination. The investigation further strains the bureau amid an elevated threat environment.
