India's paralympic swimming campaign concluded as Suyash Jadhav fell short of making the men's 50m butterfly S7 final on Saturday. Competing in Heat 1, the 30-year-old secured the fifth spot, clocking in at 33.47 seconds, placing him 10th overall.

Jadhav, a gold medalist at the Asian Para Games and other international competitions, hails from Solapur, Maharashtra. He lost both arms below the elbow after accidentally touching an electric line in sixth grade. Despite this, he became the first Indian para swimmer to achieve the 'A' qualifying mark for three consecutive Paralympics: Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020, and Paris 2024.

The S7 category includes para swimmers with varying degrees of movement limitations. To date, India has won only one Paralympic swimming medal, a gold by Murlikant Petkar in the 1972 Heidelberg Games.
