Beijing has assured Taiwan staff at multinational companies in mainland China that recently introduced guidelines empowering Chinese courts to mete out the death penalty to 'diehard' Taiwan separatists should not be a cause for concern.

During a news conference, a spokesperson from China's Taiwan Affairs Office emphasized that the majority of Taiwan compatriots, including those working in multinational firms, need not worry as long as they avoid engaging in criminal acts.

The statement aims to alleviate fears among Taiwanese employees and reinforce that regular, law-abiding citizens will not be affected by the new rules.
