A Delhi court has granted bail to AAP minister Atishi in a defamation case initiated by BJP leader Praveen Shankar Kapoor. The ruling was delivered by Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tanya Bamniyal, who set the bail bond at Rs 20,000 with one surety of the same amount.
The defamation lawsuit stems from allegations that BJP offered monetary incentives to AAP leaders to switch parties. However, the complainant argued that no substantiating evidence was provided to support these claims.
The case is set to continue on August 8, when the court will review documents and consider arguments regarding the framing of charges. Notably, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was not summoned in the complaint, while Atishi was.
