Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has declared that the state government will issue comprehensive guidelines to malls and various establishments after a farmer was denied entry to a mall due to his traditional attire.
The government earlier ordered the temporary closure of G T World mall for seven days upon the incident, which spurred bipartisan condemnation in the Legislative Assembly.
The incident was viewed as an infringement on the dignity and self-respect of the individual, according to the Deputy Chief Minister. Shivakumar also revealed that the mall has since settled outstanding tax dues and submitted a written apology. Guidelines will be issued to prevent similar incidents across the state in the future.
