Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief Jayant Chaudhary on Sunday demanded that the Uttar Pradesh government rescind its order for eateries along the Kanwar route to display the names of their owners. He argued that the Kanwar pilgrimage transcends religion and caste.

Speaking to reporters, Chaudhary stated, 'It seems that the order was taken without much thought and the government is adamant on it because the decision has been taken.' He added, 'There is still time. It (roll back) should happen or the government should not put much emphasis on (implementing) it.'

Chaudhary emphasized that neither the Kanwar pilgrims nor those serving them are identified by religion or caste, underscoring the order's contentious nature.
